I lost my job a while ago. and went without insurance or government aid. insurance is not a necessity. if you are in a life threatening position, doctors have to help whether you are insured or not, its in their hippocratic oath. i've been put in the emergency room after being struck by a car in a hit and run, and out of their reguard for human life they helped me. no insurance, no money, out of their own voluntary charity.

charity should be for those who want to give it. not a forced federal policy.

most of the people that voted for obama and are for this, i guarantee if you put a check box next to social taxes, public schools, etc on their w2 making these kinds of taxes optional. i bet atleast 70% of those hippocrites would opt not to pay it.

freedom is leaving charity to those who want to give it. and letting the selfish keep their money if they so desire.

(in all fairness, if you attend a public school, the public school tax should be mandatory, if you benefit from police, that should be mandatory, same with fire, roads, etc... though most fire fighters in this country are volunteer and function from donations.)

i dont understand why people see these functions of a city as mandatory to be provided through taxes to the point if a city can no longer afford something, like schools. theyd rather go in debt or raise taxes than cut funding. just as with us. if you cant afford to live in a big house, you dont, if you lose alot of money and suddenly cant afford heat, you cant afford heat. so if a city can no longer afford parks, schools, welfare, etc... why does it continue to? ALL you need to live are food/water, shelter, and clothing

I have bin researching into our health care system for my senior thesis. I know that our health care system has not worked for many years and will continue to not work. All these private companies are greedy, and profit from American deaths. Whether it is international health care or not our health care system needs to be changed, completely.

I am a college student and I'm up for anything thats going to be cheaper, but I can see where are these people are coming from that disagree with this bill. We are a greedy nation we want everything at our disposal. We are not China, France, or India, we are a country who would rather buy a $50,000 car than to buy health insurance. My boyfriend's Dad bought a $10,000 bike and he doesn’t have health insurance and he only makes $25,000 a year. It is all where people’s priorities are. I was raised in Texas, and I went to school with girls who had multiple children before they even graduated. I don’t want to suffer because they wanted to have fun while I got my education. I might be harsh but the truth needs to come out. Yes, some people do need that extra hand but some take advantage of it. So what should be done?

According to logic, When India and China having more people and less per capita income, are capable of providing health care to each and every citizen and that too out of 20% income tax, why can't America, whose per capita income is higher than anywhere else provide atleast a basic health care out of the normal taxes without raising it. And there must be hardly 10% of people present in America when you compare with the earlier two. If you want counteract this point by mediating the difference in quality in these countries then forget about decreasing the cost by any means of plans.

This is a horrible article about the pros and cons. It barely even touches on the cons. Why can't there be a real discuss about this? Bottom line this whole thing is shady. Most Americans are confused on what is happening. This bill has been rushed through as fast it can before people get to understand the facts. Shady and scary I say.

I cant believe various people are complaining about getting the new health care bill. I live in Ontario and we have provincial health care , it is the best hing going . It used to be funded through provincial sales tax and income tax revenue and that was the best. But due to rising costs now high income earners pay an additional premium once a year sole based on their net income well the low income earners don't pay. We have 8% provincial sales tax and tiered tax rate system where high income earners pay higher rates of tax while lower income earners pay lower rate or no tax. The system works very well. Its very comforting to know anyone with a health problem can just goto the doctor. No insurance company , no contracts . Doctor sends his bill to the government.I admit Obama's new system is not better than the one we have an ONTARIO but its a step in the right direction . This new system will help the US economy in spades as now everyone has access to health care hence more work available in the health care field . you countries living standards have increased ,UK and FRance have similar systems . How can a 1st world country not have health care I have never understood that about the USA and is one of the reasons I would not move there

How about lets start at not sending stuff too other countries and helping them rebuild. I think that will save us a couple trillion. Then implement an optional but cheap insurance that everybody can afford, rich or poor equal oppurtunity. But then again its political bull so we all lose.
