As a food, Bilberry is enjoyed in pies and jams much like its cousin, the Blueberry (in fact, it’s known as European Blueberry).

Bilberries are rich in anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that help to protect us from damaging free-radicals. Oxidative damage is considered to be a significant contributor to age-related macular degeneration.

Anthocyanins strengthen blood vessel walls and also help to prevent platelets from sticking together (which may decrease formation of blood clots).

Anthocyanins also increase the production of rhodopsin, a pigment in the retina of the eye. Rhodopsin helps the retina to adapt to changes in light, especially important for night vision. This is the basis of Bilberry’s anecdotal use by British pilots during the Second World War, when their night vision was reputably improved upon regular consumption of Bilberry jam.

• Supports eye health, including with macular degeneration
• Strengthens blood vessels
• Powerful antioxidant protection
• Improves night vision

In addition to delicious, seasonally fresh berries, support your eye health year-round with wild-harvested Bilberry from Natural Wellbeing!

So named for its hooked thorns that remarkably resemble a cat’s claw, this South American vine has traditionally been used for its exceptional anti-inflammatory and rejuvenative properties.

Cat’s Claw is one of our best-loved herbs for joint inflammation, especially that associated with rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, conditions which have an autoimmune component to them. This is where our immune system fails to recognize our own self as ‘self’ and, instead, starts to treat it as ‘non-self,’ and mounts an immune defense against what it perceives to be ‘foreign.’ This results in inflammation and, eventually, can lead to destruction of our own tissues.

Cat’s Claw has been shown to decrease Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), an inflammatory compound produced by our white blood cells during their (auto)immune response. Reducing TNF can help to effectively limit the inflammation, pain, and tissue damage that might otherwise occur.

Cat’s Claw is also a superb adaptogen, an herb which helps our body to better withstand stress – any kind of stress, be it physical, emotional, mental, or environmental. Other examples of adaptogens include the Ginsengs (Asian, American), Eleuthero, Maca, Reishi (mushroom), and Rhodiola, to name a few.

For energizing rejuvenation, protection against the effects of stress, and immune support including protection from immune-mediated joint inflammation, consider Una de Gato (Cat’s Claw, Uncaria tomentosa), from the jungles of South America.

For soft lips and smooth skin, Shea Butter is one of nature’s best kept secrets!

The thick ‘oil’ (butter) expressed from the nut of the magnificent Shea tree is a rich source of fatty acids. These have the unique ability to readily penetrate the skin and improve its ability to retain moisture, which fills out fine lines and wrinkles to provide a softer, smoother texture and appearance.

To protect its oils from rancidity due to the extreme temperatures of the dry African savannah where it grows, the Shea nut produces a high amount of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. This vitamin E naturally preserves the oils and, when applied as a moisturizer, protects our skin from harmful free radicals, too.

Shea Butter is extremely versatile:
• has been used traditionally in ointments for eczema and psoriasis
• can be applied to burns to improve healing and reduce scarring
• may help fade other scars (including stretch marks)
• is used in candle and soap-making
• is even used as a fuel for cooking

Along with soothing dry skin and chapped lips, Shea Butter can be massaged throughout the hair to moisturize it if it’s dry and brittle – especially useful during the winter when colder temperatures and central heating can dry hair out even more than usual.

Also add to your bath for soft, glowing skin!

Fair-trade Shea Butter is widely available, which ensures that your purchase provides meaningful support to the local women harvesting this supreme health and beauty butter!

Ginger is especially beneficial for anyone with perpetually cold hands and feet… so if you “know anyone” who takes a hot water bottle to bed every night, they may want to give Ginger a try!

Ginger promotes vasodilation of blood vessels in the peripheral tissues and helps to warm one up ‘from the inside out.’ For this reason, Ginger is useful for inducing a sweat to help detoxify, or to sweat out a fever (have a serving while in a hot bath, to promote the most sweating). It will also help to loosen up tight muscles, and, as a vasodilator, may also lower blood pressure.

Ginger Gold Syrup features both dried and fresh Ginger root for maximum ‘zing‘ power!

Ginger Gold Syrup is a multipurpose, soothing formula that’s helpful for many ailments, from nausea and upset tummies, to chills, poor circulation, and arthritic conditions.

• Eases nausea (travel, morning sickness)
• Enhances circulation
• Helps reduce joint inflammation
• Encourages optimal digestion
• Soothes sore throat

If you’re like many of us, you may have found yourself nibbling a wee too much shortbread over the holidays, or perhaps sipping one too many eggnogs… just maybe?

All those goodies sure taste great, but the extra fat and alcohol we often end up consuming at this time of year, put an even bigger load upon our already overworked liver. This is the perfect time of year to give your liver a little extra love!

Supporting your liver will help it to better detoxify the thousands of substances that pass through it each minute (like alcohol in eggnog) and improve its ability to digest fat (shortbread anyone?).

Milk Thistle supports the liver in not only its primary role of detoxification, but also with protein synthesis and the manufacture of enzymes, hormones, and bile (very important for fat digestion). It helps the liver to repair itself (and even regenerate new liver cells), reduces inflammation in the liver, and provides antioxidant protection.

This year, keep yourself humming right through New Year’s, with Ginseng Energy Gold™!

Ginseng Energy Gold™ features both Asian (Red) and American Ginseng Root. Some sources suggest that the Red Ginseng is more warming or ‘yang,’ while American Ginseng is less heating and thus may be more suited to the North American temperament. Together, they help balance one another out and synergize the best that each has to offer.

Additional adrenal and immune-supportive herbs in Ginseng Energy Gold™ include Eleuthero, Fo-ti root, Codonopsis, Ginkgo, and Licorice, the “great harmonizer.” Ginger rounds out this warming tonic as it supports the circulation to ensure even distribution throughout the entire body.

Keep going strong the whole holiday season – with Ginseng Energy Gold™!

It’s loaded with immune-supporting herbs including Echinacea, Goldenseal, Myrrh, Oregon Grape, Licorice and Wild Indigo. These can help your child to resist catching everything that’s going around, or, if they do happen to come down with something, help them to get over it, faster.
