Now-a-days so many people are on carbohydrate free diets and diets very low in carbohydrates. Great for the shape, but is this good for people who need a calm and gentle mood?
Research shows that foods high in carbohydrates help increase the amount of the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is then converted into the happy brain chemical known as serotonin.
People who have lower serotonin levels may have cravings for foods that are rich in carbohydrates. Does this sound familiar to you? Eating a rich carb diet before your menstrual cycle can also help curb that anger, frustration and confusion.
