Yoga Decreases Anxiety & Improves Mood
Yoga practitioners have been shown to have higher levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical in the brain that is associated with improved mood and decreased anxiety.
GABA acts like an endogenous antidepressant neurotransmitter, and it’s often decreased in people with mood and anxiety disorders. That’s why drugs that increase GABA are commonly prescribed to help these conditions.
