Do you suffer from chronic sinus congestion, seasonal stuffiness, or bouts of acute sinusitis? Rinsing your sinuses regularly can really help! Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy!

Neti pots are part of the Ayurvedic tradition; they’re simple devices that look a little like a miniature teapot. They allow you to gently flush out the sinuses, which blowing your nose can’t do as effectively. Blowing too hard can also rupture fragile blood vessels and even hurt your eardrums.

There are lots of varieties of neti pots available. I like the one by NeilMed; it’s easy and convenient to use. It comes with little premeasured packets of buffered saline (salt) that you mix with a cup of boiled water (let cool before using), so that the rinse water doesn’t sting. They also make a squeeze bottle that is great for travelling!
