Treasures from the Tropics: Tamanu Oil

Tamanu oil is a remarkable topical healing agent that possesses the unique ability to promote the formation of new tissue and accelerate growth of healthy skin. Coupled with its antibacterial properties, Tamanu oil is exceptionally useful for severe burns as it speeds wound healing and reduces the risk of infection (a major concern with burns).
Tamanu oil is helpful for all manner of skin conditions including abrasions, cuts, scrapes, burns, hemorrhoids, fissures, eczema, psoriasis, herpes sores, insect bites, and stings. It has been shown to also be very effective for the neuralgia (nerve pain) of shingles and sciatica.
Like Rosa mosqueta oil, another exceptional skin-rejuvenating oil, Tamanu is effective for helping to reduce fine wrinkles, diminish stretch marks, and reduce the formation of scars.
For softer, smoother skin and a clear complexion, make yourself a moisturizing facial oil with equal parts of Tamanu and Rosehip oils. You can even add your own favorite essential oils for pure, natural fragrance and additional protection from the elements: Lavender, Rose Geranium, Jasmine, and Rose Otto all smell wonderful and give your skin an extra ‘beauty boost’!
