Yohimbe (Pausinystalia yohimbe) is prepared from the inner bark of a tall evergreen tree that grows in western Africa. It has been used traditionally for centuries to enhance virility, and is used primarily in modern times as a natural aphrodisiac – for both men and women.
Yohimbe is highly reputed for its ability to increase libido. Its main alkaloid, yohimbine, increases the reflex excitability of nerves in the lower spine and enhances sensation in the genital region, which may lead to greater arousal.
Yohimbine acts as a stimulant to the nervous system and causes an increase in the production of noradrenaline, a neurotransmitter that causes dilation of the genital blood vessels. This improves blood flow which may help promote stronger (firmer) erections. Yohimbine (the isolated alkaloid) is used in some pharmaceuticals for treating erectile dysfunction.
Yohimbe may also improve athletic performance and endurance, and some athletes have used it as an alternative to anabolic steroids.
For natural aphrodisiac support for both men and women, consider Yohimbe to:
• Strengthen libido
• Improve sexual vitality and desire
• Increase arousal and pleasurable sensations
• Strengthen endurance and stamina
