Aloe Barbadensis


Aloe barbadensis is also called Barbados aloe; it is considered one of the most potent sources of aloe and it is used in many personal products and herbal remedies. This plant has greenish to grayish leaves from a basal rosette. Leaves of the aloe barbadensis can grow up to 2 feet long with white to reddish colored teeth. This plant can grow almost anywhere and may even survive inside the home without the need to be placed under the sun at all. It grows yellow flowers which are an inch in size.

Aloe barbadensis is just one of the four varieties of Aloe Vera that are suitable as a dietary supplement. There are about 200 varieties of Aloe known to man. Aloe barbadensis is useful in controlling high blood pressure, reduction of gastric ulcers and is known to improve immune system functioning and control inflammation without any side effects at all.

History and Origin

Aloe Vera has long been known as one of the most popular herbs used in many therapeutic remedies. The use of this plant began during the ancient times; and its use as a treatment for many illnesses and sicknesses has not changed at all in today’s world. Aloe barbadensis is considered to be the highest quality Aloe vera plant with extracts that can improve health and decrease inflammation as well.

During the time of the ancient Egyptians, Aloe barbadensis was used by women as a skin care remedy and hair care product. Women who use this extract would have much fairer and younger looking skin as compared to those who did not. Modern Uses

There are many uses of Aloe barbadensis in today’s world. First of all, it is one of the main ingredients in skin care products. Products with Aloe barbadensis content are known to improve moisture and reduce skin inflammation as well. Hair care products with Aloe barbadensis are perfect to repair dry and dull hair and scalp. This is a common ingredient in shampoos, conditioners, and hair tonics used to reduce the effect of male pattern baldness.

The use of Aloe barbadensis to treat hypertension is attributed to its ability to improve blood vessel and capillary health. It is a rich supply of antioxidants that may also help in reducing the effect of toxins in the body.

Taking Aloe barbadensis or Aloe vera juice, many consumers have reported a decreased incidence of acid reflux. This can help reduce or treat gastric ulcers as well. Aloe barbadensis is also known to be an adaptogenic; it helps improve immune system function which allows the body to adapt to such physiologic changes such as high blood pressure and respiration issues.
