Behetrimorium Methosulfate

Description

Behetrimorium methosulfate is basically considered to be the most promising hair detangling ingredient ever; it is also considered to not only be effective but also safe and mild to use. Behetrimorium methosulfate is also known as BTMS, Behenyl Trimethyl Ammonium Methosulfate and Docosyltrimethylammonium Methyl Sulphate. It is synthetically created from modified rapeseed oil. It may be seen as off-white pastille shaped with a faint odor when in room temperature. It is insoluble in water but dispersible in both water and oil.

History and Origin

Behetrimorium methosulfate is naturally derived from rapeseed oil. It is actionic and self-emulsifying; it is made up of cetearyl alcohol and behentrimonium methosulfate. This chemical is considered the most superior among other hair conditioning agents because of its innate property to thicken, condition and detangle hair. Hair may be combed completely even when wet plus is gentle even for sensitive skin use.

Ancient Uses

The use of Behetrimorium methosulfate during ancient times was completely unheard of. However, hair care was a priority among women of ancient cultures. Hair was cared for with the use of fruit and herbal extracts. Oils from seeds and nuts were also used to condition and nourish hair. Aside from cleaning and detangling hair, herbal remedies were used to treat hair problems like dandruff, falling hair, flaking and baldness.

Modern Uses

During the modern times, Behetrimorium methosulfate is considered the perfect ingredient of shampoos and hair conditioning products since it has the ability to moisturize and condition hair to the roots. It has the ability to penetrate up to the hair shaft making hair healthier and thus easy to comb and maintain. Other chemical additives may have the same property as Behetrimorium methosulfate but are not as mild or as gentle as well. This chemical does not coat the scalp and leave excess chemical build up on the surface of the scalp but penetrates hair up to the roots.

Aside from its application to the hair care industry, Behetrimorium methosulfate is also used on skin care products like moisturizing creams, lotions, deodorants and antiperspirants. Aside from shampoos and hair conditioners, it is also an ingredient in leave on treatments, hair dyes, hair relaxers and even hair care products for ethnic type of hair.

Side Effects

There are no notable side effects with regular use of hair care products with Behetrimorium methosulfate. Even hair care and skin care products for babies may have this chemical as an important ingredient because it is generally mild on skin and hair. There may still be some people who may have a slight skin irritation after using products with Behetrimorium methosulfate. It is important therefore to consult a dermatologist for the ideal skin care regimen when you have sensitive skin. Hair care products which contain Behetrimorium methosulfate must not be used for people with open wounds on scalp, cuts or broken skin as well. If you must use hair relaxers and hair dyes, prepare skin adjacent to the scalp with a barrier cream to protect from the stinging and burning sensation from this hair product. Consult a dermatologist should there be any skin irritation upon using products with Behetrimorium methosulfate.
