Jin Yin Hua

Jin Yin Hua is actually another name for the plant that is commonly referred to as honeysuckle. It is a climbing plant that can grow up to four meters in length and comes in several different varieties. The plant grows into a round shape and its leaves grow in pairs together along each of its reaching branches. It is a cleansing herb whose uses have ranged greatly throughout history, and today are used for a variety of diverse ailments.

Origin of the Jin Yin Hua

Honeysuckle, or Jin Yin Hua, is indigenous to southern Europe and the region of Caucasus. The Asian variety, which is referred to as Jin Yin Hua, is native to Chinese mainland as well as the island of Japan. It is cultivated and grown in both of these areas and can be seen growing along hedges, trees and walls. It is usually harvested in summer just before the first floral bloom takes place.

Traditional Uses of Jin Yin Hua

There are plenty of modern and accepted uses of this herb; however there are also more traditional uses of it as well. The Japanese traditionally used it to counter some infectious diseases such as abscesses, inflammation and dysentery. They may not be the best choices to treat these diseases today, thanks to modern medicine, however they still can help bring temperatures down in the body and relieve many oral pains caused by a variety of diseases.

Modern Uses of Jin Yin Hua

The medicines that are made from the majority of the Jin Yin Hua, make it easy to collect. Medicines can be made from the bark of Jin Yin Jua, as well as the flowers and branches. The stems of the Jin Yin Hua are also extremely useful in creating herbal concoctions. The bark is used to make cures for gout, kidney stones and many liver problems. The leaves are utilized in the creation of different mouthwashes and cleansing medicines, such as for sore throats and canker sores. It has also been found that when Jin Yin Hua is combined with Ju Hua, together they can help to fight off common Colds.

Its traditional and modern uses are diverse and wide, but with clinical tests and backing, it is destined to become a household herbal medicine for its uses from blood pressure to sore throats.
