Origin of L-Lysine
Lysine is an essential amino acid that cannot be produced by the body and must therefore be consumed with diet. It is scarce in vegetables and grains. Dosage of l-lysine
Dosage for children is 23mg/kg/day. Adult recommendation is 12mg/kg/day.
The recommended dose with herpes infections is 3000-9000mg/day in divided doses. For recurrence, it is recommended that 1000mg/day be taken in divided doses.
There is always the potential for side effects with prescribed medications. Before taking l-lysine, you should consult with a health care provider that is familiar with food supplements.
In the diet, it is safe. High doses have caused stones in the gall bladder.
