Lactobacillus acidophilus is a homofermentative species that can ferment sugars into lactic acid. This specie of bacteria favors a temperature of 37 degrees centigrade and therefore the ideal habitats are the human gastrointestinal tract, the oral cavity and in the female genitalia.
