Rubeola is also called the problem of measles. It’s a highly contagious infection disease. Some of the main signs and symptoms of this illness includes a hacking cough, fever, watery eyes and runny nose and a skin rash. One of the most identifiable features of this disorder is the occurrence of Koplik’s spots. These are small red spots with blue-white center which appear inside the mouth. Children who suffer from this illness face a characteristic feature of sensitivity to bright lights. This problem mainly causes full-body rash. It has reddish-brown and blotchy look and arises on the face, around the ears and on the neck. It spreads to the rest of the body within a period of three days and it lasts for about one week.
The main cause of robeola is a contagious virus called paramyxo virus. It generally lives in the mucus in the nose and throat of a diseased child or adult. The patients of this illness becomes contagious from four days of the development of body rash. There occur droplets of this virus when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks or talks. They get attached to the air and enter into others, through the process of inhaling. These droplets may also attach to the surface and remain contagious for many hours. You can get this illness by putting your fingers in your mouth or nose or after touching the surface.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Some of the main signs and symptoms of measles are listed below:
Rash- One of the most common symptoms of measles is the occurrence of skin rash that remains even after 3-4 days of the attack of infection, causing virus. This rash starts developing from the head and gradually spreads to the whole body. This sign has mainly two visual features- macules and papules. The first one appears as flat skin discoloration and the second one arises as red and elevated dots. However, as the rash spreads, both these features join and cause a lot of discomfort and itchy feelings.
Flu-like symptoms- There may arise some flu-like symptoms in measles. It includes a runny nose, sore throat and muscle pain.
Cold-like symptoms- You may suffer from some cold-like signs while facing the distress of robeola. It mainly includes a runny nose, watery eyes and a persistent cough.
Fever- The sign of fever aggravates after the fourth day of the attack of this viral disease and may go as high as 104 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Koplik Spots- These are tiny red spots that occur inside the mouth of an infected person. They first arise on the cheeks and then slowly spread to the rest of the mouth area, including lips.
There are some fine treatment options for healing robeola. It includes the use of medications which controls the sign of fever. The main forms of medicines used for this purpose are acetaminophen and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory d r u g s. Some antibiotics are also prescribed if you develop a secondary infection like Pneumonia. Do note the point that you should not use aspirin as it can aggravate this viral disease.
