Tangerine (Citrus reticulate) Peel
The tangerine (Citrus reticulata) is also called Chen pi in Chinese, Mandarin orange or Satsuma in Japan. It is a citrus fruit that is smaller when compared to an orange and tastes less sour. The tangerine peel is one of the many parts of the tangerine fruit and tree that is commonly used for herbal preparations.
The tangerine peel is much more aromatic but does actually have a rather pungent taste; this is why it is used in many medicinal preparations for respiratory illnesses.
