History and Origin
There are several ways to produce Zinc sulfate in the laboratory and it important to supply pharmaceutical grade Zinc sulfate in the medical industry. It is seen as a colorless solid at room temperature and used in the manufacturing field in creating many type of products like rayon and is also an ingredient in animal feeds, fertilizers and crop sprays.
Zinc alloys were used during ancient times by the Greeks, Chinese, Romans and the ancient people of Asia. These alloys are used mostly in battle gears and protection suits; these were also forged with other metals to further strengthen the Zinc alloy.
The use of Zinc sulfate is important in the many biological functions of the human body. It is also seen as an important mineral to increase immune resistance and also aid in wound healing. Zinc sulfate is also essential in better digestion and may also be beneficial in diabetes control.
There are over 300 enzymes in the human body that require Zinc sulfate for proper secretion and functioning. It is also estimated that there are many types of proteins that are essential in the development of human life that contains Zinc. The cells of the body also require Zinc for optimum functioning; the cells of the pancreas and the prostrate all contain Zinc which is needed for protein synthesis. Zinc is also found in high concentrations in many organs of the body like the retina of the eye, the red blood cells and also the cells of the bones, skin, liver and kidneys.
Regarding the therapeutic functions of Zinc sulfate, it is known as an antioxidant which is needed for cell regeneration and cell health. Antioxidants also help dispose the body from harmful free radicals that can increase cell aging.
Zinc deficiency occurs when the intake of the mineral is deficient or when there are instances that the mineral is poorly absorbed even with high amounts in the diet. Zinc deficiency may have symptoms like poor night vision, altered or decrease sense of smell and taste and a decreased ability of the immune system to fight infections. Zinc sulfate and zinc can be obtained through natural sources like dairy products, animal meats, poultry, beans, lentils and whole grains.
