Description

What is Oil of Oregano

A number of scientific studies have backed up ancient beliefs in the healing powers of Oil of Oregano. First used by the Ancient Greeks, it has been proven to have capacities as a natural antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, and anti-oxidant. It is one of the most diverse natural healers available. Oil of Oregano supplement should not be confused with the herb used in cooking. The cooking herb has no medicinal uses.

What's in Oil of Oregano?

  • Carvacrol: This is a natural phenol that has a powerful anti-microbial and fungicidal activity. It is the most important ingredient in Oil of Oregano. Two studies have shown that it appears to reduce infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics. It can destroy many different forms of bacteria and is one of Mother Nature’s best antihistamines and decongestants.
  • Thymol: natural phenol that boosts the immune system. Both Carvacrol and Thymol also act as free radical scavengers, and prevent further tissue damage while encouraging healing. These two phenols work synergistically and appear in Oil of Oregano in almost ideal proportions. This explains why Oil of Oregano has a far more powerful ability to kill microbes than commercial phenols.
  • Terpenes: isomeric phenol. It is a long chain hydrocarbon with natural anti-inflammatory capacity.
  • Flavonoids: These contain natural antiseptic and anti-oxidant properties. They neutralize the activities of free radicals in the body, which damage cell structure.
  • Vitamins and Minerals: Oil of Oregano contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, copper, boron, and manganese, vitamins C and A (beta carotene) and niacin.

Natural healers use Oil of Oregano to:

  • Treat skin infections.
  • Treat sinus infections
  • Increase muscle and joint flexibility and reduce symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism
  • Boost immune function to combat colds, flu, and viral infections
  • Protect against diseases caused by bacteria, such as infections
  • Calm hyper-reactions in the body from external stimuli (allergies)
  • Use it as a natural painkiller
  • Relax muscles that are either tight or in spasm
  • Reduce inflammation from insect stings and venomous bites
  • Kill germs causing digestive problems and diarrhea

Can Oil of Oregano really provide so many different benefits?

Studies back up the claims that natural healers have made about it for centuries. Modern science has consistently discovered that it is effective as they have claimed.

How long does it take before I see results?

It depends on what you are taking Oil of Oregano for. But, as a natural antiseptic, it will start fighting infection and healing almost immediately. Its reaction time depends on what use you have for it.

Does taking Oil of Oregano cause any side effects?

It can cause irritation if taken in excess. Also, there is some suggestion that using it may make it harder for the body to absorb iron. So if you are taking it regularly, check with a Naturopath to see if you should supplement with iron. For this reason also, pregnant women should avoid using it.

Is Oil of Oregano addictive or habit forming?

No. Supplementing with it will not in any way be addictive.

Should I consult my doctor before using Oil of Oregano?

This is a safe, natural supplement. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with your doctor before taking a supplement.

How Oil of Oregano Works

This powerhouse of a plant is effective against so many different problems and ailments that it’s difficult to describe how it works. It depends on which of its many abilities you have chosen it for. Both clinical and university studies have catalogued how its different active ingredients work to help the body reduce, and fight-off invasive viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites.

Comments about NaturalWellbeing Oil of Oregano:

I moved to a different state and got sick over and over, I think my body was trying to acclimate and I picked up every bug out there. After weeks of being miserable my friend recommended this product. I took it and within a couple of days was feeling better. It cleared up my sinuses like magic! I haven't been sick since I took it, but I will definitely be keeping it on hand.

Comments about NaturalWellbeing Oil of Oregano:

My daughter takes 2 pills twice a day. Within one week we noticed a substantial difference in the number of sneezing attacks she had during the day and the duration became shorter. She doesn't appreciate taking it twice a day, but that dose seems to be the most effective. It has allowed her to reduce her dependence on the other prescription allergy medications.

      Answer:

The Oil of Oregano has many properties that help to clear the respiratory passage and clear noses, and lungs from congestion. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties that may help aid in any discomfort to damaged or irritated tissues. I would also suggest looking into a liquid tincture we carry called Mullein: http://www.naturalwellbeing.com/products/mullein This product also helps to promote release of mucus and soothe an irritated throat.

We do not suggest using the Oil of Oregano for your pets.

If you are looking for a supplement that can help with respiratory issues and build their immune system I would suggest our Respiratory Aid for cats: http://www.petwellbeing.com/products/cat-cough
