What is omega 3-6-9
Omega 3, 6 and 9 groups of fatty acids all contain "essential" fatty acids necessary for good health. The human body needs these healthy fatty acids from a dietary source, since they are not produced within the body; a deficiency can cause a wide range of ailments, from low concentration to depression, arthritis to acne. They are essential for the body to manufacture and repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. Because they are also responsible for maintaining the health of our skin, hair and nails, problem skin and brittle nails can be a general indicator of a deficiency. And recent research indicated that almost 90% of the American population is deficient in healthy fats!
- Omega-3: The most important and nutritionally relevant omega-3 fatty acids are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These two essential fatty acids (EFA) are necessary for the efficient functioning of the brain and body at a cellular level. Low DHA levels have been linked to depression, schizophrenia, memory loss, and a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers are now also linking inadequate intake of these omega-3 fats in pregnant women to both premature and low birth weight in addition to hyperactivity in children.
- Omega-6: Excess omega-6 fats interfere with the health benefits of omega-3 fats so it is important to obtain the proper ratio (approximately 4:1 or lower); most diets today contain a ratio of 20:1 or worse! When upplemented properly, omega- 6 can help maintain healthy skin, nails, and hair as well as support emotional and hormonal balance.
- Omega-9: Unlike omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, omega-9 fatty acids are not considered essential fatty acids because omega-9 can be created by the body from unsaturated fat. As with omega-3 and omega-6, proper balance of omega- 9 is important because in the absence of omega-3 and omega-6, the body will compensate by producing omega-9 which is not as nutritionally effective. Oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid, has been shown to reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), cardiovascular disease, and stroke.

How Omega 3-6-9 works
In the body, essential fatty acids are primarily used to produce hormone-like substances that regulate a wide range of functions, including blood pressure, blood clotting, blood lipid levels, the immune response, and the inflammation response to injury infection. Together, Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids work together to affect the production of hormonal type messengers called eicosanoids, which has an impact on inflammation in the body and all functions at a cellular level. They are anti-inflammatories and anti-coagulants. They reduce inflammation and can provide protection against cardiovascular disease, arthritis, skin conditions, depression and other mood-related disorders, by reducing inflammation in the lining of the blood vessels. Because they low triglyceride levels by reducing production in the liver, they particularly can help prevent heart attack through reducing the risk of atherosclerosis (fatty plaque in the blood vessels), cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Dosage & Directions
For adults, take 1 softgel up to three times daily with a meal.Cautionary Notes
In its 2002 guidelines for omega-3 fatty acid intake, the Institute of Medicine at the National Academy of Sciences declined to establish a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for omega-3s. However, research was cited showing increased risk of bleeding and hemorrhagic stroke in a few studies following supplementation with omega-3s. Individuals who have disorders involving bleeding, who bruise very easily, or who are taking blood thinners should consult with a medical practitioner before taking supplemental omega-3 fatty acids.
If you are pregnant, nursing, have any health condition or are taking any medications, consult your health care practitioner before using this product. Keep out of reach of children.
