I've always had heart problems (it runs in my family) and as I got older I started to get bad cholesterol and I began to really worry about my heart. Native to central and southern Europe, and western and central Asia, the name white willow is derived from the silky white hairs covering the leaves, particularly on the underside. White willow bark has been used as a treatment for inflammation since ancient Egypt, and for pain and fever in China since 500 B.C. Native Americans used white willow for headaches, fever, sore muscles, rheumatism and chills. It is considered better than aspirin, in that it does not cause the stomach to bleed.
- Nattokinase: Nattokinase is a traditional Japanese fermented soy food, much like a cheese. To make nattokinase, boiled soybeans are combined with the bacteria Bacillus subtilis natto. It has a strong, cheese-like smell, a nutty, salty flavor, and a sticky consistency, and is often eaten as a breakfast food with rice. It has been shown to help dissolve abnormal blood clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes, and support healthy blood flow by assisting the circulatory clearing system of the body.
What causes high cholesterol levels?
Common causes of elevated cholesterol include a diet that is high in saturated fats, trans-fats, and cholesterol, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, and being overweight.
